    That much, though? Seems that it's the same size as if I'd compressed the mpg alone. Then again, it's still odd to me that the avi is 22 times larger than the mpg

    Particularly since:

    The MPEG-1 file was way bigger than the original .avi, and the MPEG-2 file was even bigger
