except black and white and diamond, pearl and platinum all questions involving any other pokemon game in the main series is up to you to make up. So go ahead ask don't be shy.
Here's some tips before asking that way you can get started a little bit faster. Have a full team! It's better to pack up before going on your adventure so stock your pockets with your best team and don't forget every team is unique and good in it's own way. Grab some goodies! Items and other nicknacks are very helpful when in a tight fix against tougher trainers use items like full heal and revive to assist your pokemon with a victory instead of a loss. Evolution! Almost every pokemon evolves the best thing to do is to know when to evolve it not all the time you want to evolve straight away a good example would be Bagon if you wait until it's level 49 and then let it evolve then train it one more level as a Shelgon then Salamence's speed stat will be much higher then usual because it slows down as a Shelgon (think about that it's a turtle of course it's going to slow down XD). Also... Trade! Have help from buddies because that's why they are there you never know when a friend's pokemon is going to help especially since it levels up faster! Breed! You can't get em all if you don't breed or trade so go put those pokemon in the daycare go on it won't bite! More to come on next post
Above all important things that sticks with the series is trading. There's no way you can really get them all unless you have friends with the other versions of the games unless you have them yourself like me. You must capture the exclusive pokemon in each version and trade them to the "host" game you want completed for instance firered that means you will need leafgreen, sapphire, ruby, emerald and even pokemon colosseum and pokemon xd gale of darkness to aid you in your quest to fill up that pokedex so grab your old gamecube or your wii and play colosseum and xd gale of darkness and find those pokemon! Same goes for sapphire, leafgreen, ruby and emerald the best way to get em all is to finish the game first that way you can focus your attention on this very long goal! Set up trade boxes in each game that way your only trading essentials. Play special modes in colosseum and xd gale of darkness you never know if one gives you a free pokemon (hint: pokemon colosseum's mt battle vs 100).
So know what, your gonna get em all but what about battling? Every battle is something new but sometimes you got to bring in old tricks to step up your game, old or new you pick they all work just fine! Strategies: Ah my favorite part about this game the mental process you go through during each battle the first thing is what do i do? Well like i said every battle is unique the first thing is to identify your opponent if it's a bird boy he's probably got flying type pokemon with him or even electric types to fool you and you counter with ice types, rock types, ground types and electric types of course depending. Set your team of 6 with however you choose but of course choose wisely. Oops sent out the wrong pokemon! Don't panic make a quick switchout or use a defensive move like toxic or iron defense then use baton pass to pass on your newly added stats to your team mates or defend with light screen or reflect. There are 2 types of attacks Physical Attacks and Special Attacks it's critical you remember each one because it will decides wins and losses. Physical attacks and Special attacks fall into the type moves categories and they organize as so: (Physical) Normal, Bug, Ghost, Rock Ground, Poison, Steel, Flying, and Fighting, (Special) Dragon, Psychic, Ice, Grass, Fire, Water, Electric, Dark. Each attack correspond with the pokemon's offensive stats and the opponent pokemon's defensive stats. Physical attacks increase when your pokemon has a higher attack stat and inflict more damage if your opponents defense stat is lower. Special Attacks increase when your pokemon has a higher special attack stat and inflict more damage if your opponents special defense stat is lower. HP is critical for your pokemon that shows how long roughly it will last out in the field while Speed shows how gets to go first the magikarp or the jolteon XD clearly jolteon.
Ah another thing is status problems, your pokemon can be effected by nasty attacks like toxic and be affected by status problems they are: Poison, Paralysis, Sleep, Frozen, Burn. Also there are side effect status problems as well which are just as bad those are Confusion and Attract they don't work like regular status problems because overtime they will be automatically healed and or gotten rid of. Poison saps your HP more and more as the status problem stays so heal it fast. Paralysis immediately brings down the Speed of your pokemon can't it still go first possibly but not likely also it may be so paralyzed that sometimes it may not move when you tell it to perform a move treat it quickly. Burn also takes away HP but at regular amounts (25, 10, depends on your HP) also it drops the attack stat of your pokemon and you don't want that to happen to a high attacker such as heracross right. Sleep makes your pokemon immobile for a few turns as it catches a few Z's wake it up immediately unless you have the move Sleep Talk or Snore because then you have the advantage! Confusion is random will your pokemon attack itself or the enemy? Heal it quick or wait patiently pick one. Attract stays until the opponent is defeated or your pokemon is switched out this lovely move allthough pretty possibly forces your pokemon to do nothing when you tell them or maybe you get lucky and they do who knows frankly don't find out!
How's that for smarts? How am i doing rate me and my posts if you don't mind and share with me your questions that's what im here for to answer and to serve our loyal fans of this here site.
Teaching Moves! Not every pokemon can learn the same moves, not every pokemon can learn all moves the only one being MEW so far. So every pokemon is different luckily im here to help. TM's and HM's are helpful at teaching very valuable moves such as Ice Beam and Surf. Move tutors are scattered around the game if you find them show them your pokemon and see if they can learn the move they mention. The "level" move tutor is set on two island and fallarbor town (firered and leafgreen for the island, ruby, sapphire and emerald for the town) he can teach moves your pokemon learned by level all over again and maybe even some new ones. Egg moves are valuable because there moves passed down from the father pokemon the baby pokemon will perhaps inherit TM moves and HM moves from there dad such as Ice beam or Cross chop so breed with just the right pokemon to get valuable moves. VOLT TACKLE: Have emerald, ruby or sapphire breed a pikachu (male) and raichu (female) one or both holding the light ball item which can be obtained by catching many pikachu's then once you hatch the egg your pichu should have gained VOLT TACKLE!
Be a treasure hunter and search the land for items wandering about, they can be found in pokeballs, or hidden with the itemfinder speaking of that here's some special itemfinder spots to check by the way this is for firered and leafgreen only: Where snorlax is (both spots), Where giovanni used to be (talk to him after getting the badge), Where mr fuji used to be (top of pokemon tower). Also look around for tiny black dots those are berries pick em up with A to grab these healthy little fruits these can heal your pokemon or even be used in the special berry crush machine which is only available to use if you have two wireless adapters and the powder jar (cerulean city, mossdeep city) lastly you must have firered, leafgreen or emerald then go upstairs in the pokemon center and talk to the lady behind the right counter let her save your game then access the berry crush have one player become leader and have the others join the group press Start and A to confirm your choices and away you go. Press A repeatedly to crush those berries you put in the machine to create powder which then can be used to buy items from the person who gave you the jar.
