60GB will be enough for me to install a few games to HDD for a few weeks until I get a 250GB drive.![]()
Yes. I just checked, and the adapter on my charger only rated for 120V 60Hz. If you're using an American adapter, it's almost certainly going to be rated for a lower voltage and higher frequency (230V 50Hz) than your wall power in Ireland. You can check yours by reading the text printed on the adapter for the input line, but that's probably the problem.
At least it didn't explode yet.
EDIT: Wait, were you referring to the AC/DC adapter in the charger itself, or a separate step-down adapter for the wall power?
It's 240 volts 50-60 Hz* here Mistral, your guess was close enough.
*The exact frequency is never given, just that range.

Power adapters and stuff are confusing things.
Especially since some devices are "auto switching" from 120v to 240v, so you can run them just fine in the UK, and other things need step downs/step ups...![]()
I actually just downgraded the hard drive in my PS3.It originally came with 40GB (useless!) so I upgraded it to 320GB a couple of years back. I've now swapped the 320GB with the 120GB in my netbook, which I should have done in the first place if I'd had any sense. No way I'll ever need more than 120GB in that console.
