DLC isnt that bad, its just a case of, what SHOULD be DLC and what shouldn't.
New players, argh.
New levels, yeah sure.
New/adding to a story, no.

DLC should be free aswell.

Least Valve got that right on PC at least, they did want to do that for 360 / PS3 but if i remember right Microsoft wouldnt let em not sure if Valve games on PS3 have DLC Charges

Adding to a story is acceptable, for people who are interested. But you shouldn't end your game with a scene that makes no sense unless you've played the DLC. It should come after the ending, or be a little tie-in that's interesting to fans, but not required to understand the original story.
