Does anyone know aprox. how big an Ubuntu install disk should be? When the DL starts it says it's ~650mb, but then it stops at around 93mb. Surely that's not right?

That's what I thought, I don't know what's up with this download. It's straight from the Ubuntu site too.... I guess I'll just give it another go and hope...

I have a buddy who likes to collect any computer parts that he can get his hands on, builds a semi-decent computer out of them, a donates them to a women's shelters and stuff like that. Lots of girls there trying to get back into school who can really use a computer. Whenever I have any spare parts or see anything for dick cheap, I toss 'em over to him and he finds something for them.

Try downloading it with something like JDownloader, for automatic resume?

The place would be Main Street Audio/Video, and I haven't out that direction in a few days. Nowhere else would have them.

Oh I see, I thought you personally had a use for small 2.5" drives.

Might want to consider using a download manager.

I'm sure I could find some way to make some use out of them.

I will if it fails again. I'd rather not DL another piece of software that I don't really need though, if I can avoid it. It also just hit me that I'm helpless with linux, so this will be interesting

That's actually pretty cool. How does he put the OS on? Surely he's not putting down ~$100 for an OS on each one?

My school gives away Windows 7 Professional to anyone in the IT/CPS dept.

Well, I'm at around 120Mb this time, so hopefully it'll work this time.
Also, does anyone know if I can install it from an external HDD, to a partition on my computer's harddrive? I'd rather not burn a DVD for just one use, and I don't really have a flash drive laying around.

Yeah, and you can't really just slap a pirated version of Win7 on and put it out into the wild, when it could so easily be tracked back to you.

I'm know he wasn't using Win7. He might have been using a cracked version of XP, though.
