Yeah, I have an Associate's Degree in computer programming. I also went to technical school while in high school, and got ASE certified in auto mechanics. For my current job, I had to get Universal EPA Certification for HVAC (heating/air conditioning).

I never went in.

This is my "shortcut", nevermind the fact that I have a bunch of other certs I'll need before anyone looks at my seriously.

It's been said English is the hardest language to learn because of all the rules and exceptions, but with 10,000 characters, I'm thinking that might not be a correct assumption

You only need about 3000 really, though. Maybe 4000 or 5000 if you want to learn Chinese as well. Yes, I'm aware that that's not that much better. If it helps, even some of my Japanese friends have trouble writing some of the less common kanji. You're in good company.

My rule is always try to be the best at whatever it is you happen to be doing. You'll advance faster and get better pay. Plus, if you ever need it, you have verifiable knowledge to fall back on.
