It's probably downscaling it though, even if it doesn't actually say so. My 26" TV takes any resolution I throw at it but the actual max resolution of the screen is 1360x768. It'll claim it's displaying at all these crazy resolutions but it really isn't, it's accepting the input signal and scaling it down to fit the screen.

Maybe, there was an insane amount of space on the desktop though. Since I never plan on using it for a monitor, it doesn't matter much .

It also allows you more screen space. Which is good when you're doing something complicated. Looking up a guide while playing a game? Running an instant messenger while surfing the web? Suddenly feel the urge to look something up while checking your e-mail? Yeah, it does that.

Once you go multi-screen, there's no going back.

And god help you if you go multiple machine. I feel so limited when I'm down to ONE SCREEN, ONE COMPUTER. It's like someone cut my arm off.

(it's only really a problem if you have a low grade card anyway. In my case, no machine is hooked up to more than 2 screens. )

Yeah my grandad has a 17" monitor and my uncle's spare monitor is a 17", they both look almost identical with the same resolution. I think if I'm honest I'd rather use two 17"s than a horrible 21" or so widescreen...
