My sentiments exactly. I was not aware of this fact, nor did I see an obvious "save" feature.
So I'm thinking about starting up an LP thread for "failed games." Games where I just see how far I can get with a game over, or as many continues as they allow me, or something like that.
Toying with doing Batman for the NES next. I made it to the first level of World 3 for Diddy Kong's Quest, and that was... enough for me for one night.

Linux is nice, from what I've used so far -- Ubuntu 11.04 is very visually appealing, that's for sure -- but there's a pretty steep learning curve to trying to figure out how to use everything, especially if you're coming from being a Windows user for 20+ years. It will definitely take a lot of getting used to, and more than a little bit of fiddling. While it might be a great alternative for gaming -- or even a better alternative for gaming -- it's not the end-all-to-be-all for a casual user with limited computer knowledge. I personally find that Windows is a lot more user-friendly than Linux.
