So ive been helping an old friend of mine set up a GBA emu.
The conversation went something like this:
him: i wanna play GBA and GB color games on my laptop
Me: yeah i replied to your message
okay good thats an easy one
one moment while i gather links
Him: u rock
Me: i assume your on windows?
Him: yupVista
Me: oka
this is your emulator http://www.emuparadise.org/emulators...-1.8.0-511.exe
gba games http://www.emuparadise.org/Nintendo_...dvance_ROMs/31
gbc games
http://www.emuparadise.org/Nintendo_..._Color_ROMs/11
Him: is it free?
Me: Of course
Him: ok theres a blck screen says Visual Boy Advance
Me: what do you mean?
Him: That right?
it dwnloaded and then this window opened up saying VisualBoyAdvance
Me: idk...just exit that and launch the exe file
Him: k got it
now will i have to be online to use my emulator, lol and i definately will
Me: Nope.
Him: Awsome
Dude i rlly appreciate u helping me
Me: let me know if you have any questions. is no problem
Him: Dewayne tried and it just floped
im still wrkin on geting it to work should there be like a short cut on my desktop
or sumthing
Me: no. you just have to run the .exe. there should be no installation needed. You could move the .exe to your DT if you like.
your gonna want to make a folder for your games though
Him: okay so srry if im being annoyingly slow but i wanna get this right, i click the link it downloads then installs itself then wat
Me: it doesnt install. Its just a .exe file. NO INSTALLATION lol. make a folder for your games, put them in there, click file>open, navigate to the game, and run it. you can change the screen size by going to options>video>x1, x2, x3 etc. Make sure to go to options>frameskip>and click automatic.
Him: k so when i wanna use the emulator will i have to use that link u gave me every time
Me: no no no. it should be wherever your downloaded files go. it should be called VisualBoyAdvance-1.8.0-511.exe
Him: lol ok i just now figured that part out and made a short cut
Dude hav u ever thot of like being a computer tech
ude be great at it
Me: As in PC maintence and repair? waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of you on that one
im more of a hardware guy though
Him: lol awsome that what my girlfreind steph is going for that and software development and Program design
Me: See, software isnt my thing. do you know the difference in soft/hardware?
Him: yeah a bit im more into website design
okay now how to i get to the games and get them on my computer
Me: i posted links for GBA and GBC games.
Him: w ent to the link and selected one then download the link but cant figure out how to get the game to play
Me: okay make a folder named GBA Games or whatever on your DT. Find where they DL'd to (same place as the emu), move them into the folder you made. In the emulator click File>Open and navigate to said folder with the games. Choose your game and play.
Him: okay im figuring it out slowly but surely
lol
thanks for being patient
lol
Me: GBA is the easiest thing to emulate. You dont have to deal with plugins on none of that BS.
or
or****
Him: lol
i may be able to figure this out
I figured out the emulator part just got get the game prt down
HOLY SHIT I DID IT
HELLZ YEAH
