It's very efficient as well and easier on your hardware because it uses less resources than commercial OS offerings. No fragmentation as well, so it's easier on your HDD. There's a reason why this server runs on Linux, why most servers run on Linux and why Google runs on Linux.It's actually very easy to set your Windows 7 to dual boot Ubuntu, I posted a tutorial here:

Grab a 64-bit ISO if you have 4 MB of RAM or more if you decide to set it up. It doesn't take long at all, the majority of the time it'll take is installing Ubuntu.
