Default PlayStation 2 ships over 150 million

The 10 years and 11-month-old PlayStation 2 has shot through the 150 million units shipped mark, Sony has announced.

The PS2, which was first sold in March 2000 in Japan, is the best-selling console of all time.

An eye-watering 1.52 billion units of PS2 software have been sold worldwide as of the end of December 2010.

The PS2's best-selling game is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which shifted 17.33 million units. In second place is Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec with 14.89 million. In third is Gran Turismo 4, with 10.76 million sold.

A total of 10,828 games have been created for the console.

Sony said it expects continued demand for the system in Eastern Europe, South East Asia, the Middle East and South America.

I want a Playstation 2. Someone want to make a change by my old Playstation with 12 original games and an original dual shock without vibrators, that doesn't go left on the D-pad?

Sell it on eBay and use the money to buy a PS2?

Huh, when the Playstation 2 launched here in Brazil, it was R$2.999,00 ($1350,00 dollars, that time when 1 dollar was worth 2,20 of our money, the Reais). The Playstation 3 was R$7.200,00 on launch, imported (about $3.600,00 dollars I think). I would say the price of the original Playstation, but I was 3 years old that time. Now that we have a Sony affiliate here in Brazil, the prices dropped, but still expensive, PS2 R$499,00 ($300) and PS3 R$1.100,00 ($660) on stores, and nobody wants an original PS (only collectors). I would sell my PS, but people wouldn't pay more then R$50,00 here. My father won't give me anything, he wants me to get my own job. I'm too lazy right now, so I guess I'll stick to emulators.

Where do you live? You can't get somebody in the States to buy you one for $50 and ship it to you?
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

I have a PS2 Slim. Still have to find any major drawback to it. I waited until 2008 to get one, it was - and still is - a dream come true.

My cousin has a slim, but it has only one controller on which the D-Pad doesn't work, and you need to hit the disc drive a few times for it to work.

Oddly enough I never stumbled across issues of that kind.

I forgot to mention my Slim is chipped, with Matrix Infinity.
