They don't have extra power plugs, but they still draw current. And I've seen some pretty crappy PSU's in old machines like this...
Like inferno said, you could easily build a whole new system for that amount. That's crazy. I would just put together a nice new computer, that could probably blow your current machine out of the water.
My parents' ancient PC is running an ATI x1050 PCI-E 256MB on an ancient ~250W PSU.(Unbranded too.

If i want to rebuild a new computer I'd probably waste loads of money trying to make it top of the line o.o and i don't want to so that =P i want a laptop, which would be that laptop i posted about earlier, because I'm in need of a laptop =P
So far my computer is doing an amazing job =P and i want to keep it lol

500$ would probably built a very competent computer for gaming.
There is no reason to get rid of your old one. Keep it for a server or whatever.
Wait, so are you building a new one? I'm confused now.
What he said. I built my first computer on a little over $300, and it was and still is quite a competent machine. As I'm sure everyone on here knows, it played Crysis. On high. And damnit, I have the benchmarks to prove it![]()
Seriously, you would get much better value, and a much better end product if you just built a new one, not to mention you would be able to improve it later, where as the one you have now is pretty much topped out.
I'm gonna build a new computer, keep my old one (but still buy a graphics card for it ;]) and buy that new laptop. Thanks everyone =]

If you want some advice from a former computer builder, unless you want to mess around with possible hardware incompatibilities...
Find a machine online (In the best case, somewhere where you can custom build one.) that you think is pretty good, then find all of it's parts, with a similarly sized case on Newegg, and if it's a good total price, build it.
