*bitching about using a bow sideways*

Erm, that's actually a reasonable method of archery. It's not practiced in formal stuff and modern bows are typically designed to be fired upright, but sidways firing was practiced a decent amount with shortbows and some varieties of longbow. Ironically to this article, it was also the best method while on horseback, since it's hard as hell to get enough vertical space without fucking up your shot or taking way too long.

I also like how this one brief shot is proof the game is linear, set in the daytime, and absolutely horrible. It's not like the light gem might disappear when not in use to keep the hud smaller, amirite?

Yeah, I don't know enough about bows to comment on that, but it's pretty obvious nitpicking. As for the rest, yeah, I agree. People can rage when the game comes out and turns out to be shit, but this one shot barely shows anything. As I've said, it's hopefully just overreaction from the commenters.

And it just might seem brighter because of the photo quality.

Quick edit: I can't seem to remember any time in the Thief games when the light gem was "not in use", since it's such a core part of the gameplay. Even when you're aiming, it's good to know how hidden you are. But yeah, I doubt they're getting rid of it.

The could remove it during daytime areas, since hiding in shadows would probably be less of a focus than simply staying out of sight or blending in. Or perhaps simply have a similar light gem feature when hiding/mostly hiding (splinter cell had something similar going on). Plus we don't even know which part of the game the shot is from. It could just as easily be an earlier level or some sort of more linear section (DS had a couple sections that bordered on linearity provided you snapped a shot at a certain time/viewpoint).

uksix, I've moved your post to it's own thread in Sega System, under Everything Emulation, that's the place where we post that kind of questions.

Since we have fans of the series here, Touhou 13 announced, with a demo forthcoming next Reitaisai in a couple months. So, yeah...four characters playable (Reimu, Marisa, Sanae, Youmu), "easier" difficulty (though if this is in the Eirin sense of "easier", that may not mean much), and another new game mechanic like the UFOs, time-based continues, team switching on focus between human and youkai, or so forth in previous games.

Some of the easiness might be due to the fact that spell practice is finally back. Meaning that now you can spend hours preparing for that good ending run without having to do a bunch of aborted runs. 'Bout damn time, I say.

EDIT- Also, Reitatsu isn't in "a couple months" so much as 2 weeks.

    *checks calendar*
Ah, it's already the end of February. I suppose I should change this calendar from June 2008.

I just got my hands on Super Laser Racer - a lot of fun. If you're into Mirco Machines, take a look at it. Available for both Mac and PC.

I also got my hands on a handful of DS titles out of the bargain bin at the store. Enough to keep me busy until the 3DS launches, for sure.

As my sig might indicate... Rift, pretty fun game. First MMO Ive actually enjoyed PvP on. Kind of refreshing, I guess, though the game itself isnt anything new. Oh well.
