Though it appears to have evolved a sexual meaning rather early.
People complaining about a company trying to make money always seems stupid to me. If you want to mod your system then fine, but don't complain when the company attempts to prevent you from doing so.
Granted, there are several valid arguments against certain things like DRM, but the basic idea of raging hard at every little thing is silly.

There's truth in that, but also they also removed functionality for no reason. When I bought a PS3 on launch day, I was expecting to be able to install Linux and play homebrew. But shortly thereafter, they threw Linux support out the window to cage customers in.
But also, with the system's security as it is now, it's just impossible to prevent hacking/piracy. Any trends to ruin PSN, add DRM to games, firmware updates, etc. is just a waste of time. You'll be lucky if DRM doesn't get hacked a day after release, and it all seems to punish the people who haven't done anything wrong. Sure, they want to make money, but the facaded security for such a small percentage of hackers with buggy DRM, feature removal, and general dickery just isn't fine.
There's two sides to it, but in this case Sony is mostly wrong. The system's key was hacked; you can't do anything about it. Increase security for the PS4, but it's just a lost cause for the PS3. At this point you're just pissing people off.
In my opinion, of course, but I can't really see the other side's view. I'm off to bed anyway.![]()
Speaking of Sony being crazy, I need to accept the ToS again before being able to sign into the PSN?![]()
