Do you people think that sony could actually win a lawsuit against everyone who watched or commented on that video? Thats just BS... lets sue CNN for broadcasting that Egypt war, and showing the world how to rebel against the government

You are generalizing it over there....since not everyone intends to pirate stuffs

Sony has been on a rampage about piracy for a while. I swear when it comes to restricting user rights Sony is only second to Apple. Sony is going down a dark, dark path.

How does pirating have anything to do with respecting what you have?

    That was my question.

its stealing, no matter how you look at it, and modding the system breaks the contract you make when buying the console. People know they are in the wrong but don't care. They want what they want when they want it and that's just how it is.

You have the right to do everything but disassemble it and explore its contents. I was under the impression that reverse engineering was illegal. Secondly your talking about making software/hardware and handing out information that obviously wasn't meant for your eyes or mine so if that isn't stealing I don't know what is.

You actually can do that, you just cant change something from it and resell its content as your own, distribute the content or make public any private and patented content

If you have a moral objection to emulation and console modding, why exactly are you here?

Console modding isn't illegal, and because of the state of the internet, and the ability to enforce piracy laws, piracy is a moral decision more so than a legal one.

I only emulate what I have owned. Sega genesis games, Super Nintendo, NES, Nintendo 64, PSX, Dreamcast. I don't need 7 consoles hooked up to my one TV. That's just stupid. The fact of the matter is if people respected what they had more we wouldn't have to put up with crap like this. Its not some kind of mystical secret.

On that note, Imagine if the console was your product. You'd be PISSED and there ain't no denying that.

Actually I'm a game design major, it might be my product some day.

I wouldn't be pissed at the people who modded it if that's what you're trying to say.

I think it's still really important to remember a lot of PS3 owners paid for a feature that Sony ripped away without warning. If Sony wants to steal from their buyers, how can they expect anything else in return?
