I remember thinking that while I was translating it. It's like...a pretty brutal, unpleasant movie, but all the human on human aggression just passes straight through me. Then someone hurts a cat, and suddenly I'm offended.

There was this legendary guy at our university about three years ago who won the all Britain Japanese speech contest just after graduating. He's famous around the department for being completely fluent when he returned from his year abroad, accent and all. My teacher told me that someone like him only really comes along once every ten or fifteen years of teaching. And then said she was surprised at meeting me, because she thought I could be just like him. It's like....yeaaaaaaah, thanks, but no. Suffice to say that teacher thinks a little more of me than she should. But thank you! I'm still considering whether or not to apply~

I always think it's so amazing that people can study a language for years trying to gain fluency, but other spend a year or two abroad and make as much or even more progress. Japanese is really interesting to me, but I doubt I'll have much time to fool around with it in the near future. If there's anything I should be learning after I finish school, it should be Spanish. But at least refraining from studying Japanese will ensure that it keeps its "fun" factor. There was a time when I thought German was fun too, but after three and a half years of study, I find it absolutely horrid.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll do wonderfully.

A bulbasaur for each season? Autumn bulba needs some lovely red Japanese maple leaves. Spring bulba can have sakura blossoms. Summer bulba can just be regular bulba.

okay...I need an opinion.... If you were me (which luckly you are not) , which of the following jobs would you rather be in:

1) Airport Polylingual Recepcionist - 6 Hours of work (which of you actually work for about 3 hours), a nice salary....and get to work with ignorant people, hypocrite people, stupid people, and with people trying to humiliate ya or step on ya (Ya, the "bosses" are all like that)

2) Magazine Reseller - Work 8 Hours, work with hot chicks, and get an average payment of 1k per week

3) Freelancer Graphic Designer - Work at the confy of your home any time you want

I don't know. I'm sure I'd like you being you well enough.

Definitely #3 for me. Though being successful as a freelance anything isn't especially easy. And graphic design is quite competitive. I think it just depends on how confident you are in your own abilities.

That's what my friends always assumed when they saw me with my parents. That I was like...adopted, or one of them was a stepparent, or...

And we had a Chinese teacher who was like...seriously the most camp person ever. He was lovely, but I don't think he could have been more of a stereotype had he tried, and he was kind of infamous around the department. Then one day he came out with some anecdote about his wife while explaining how he had learned English. And the second the words 'my wife' left his lips, you could almost feel this huge shockwave go around the class. Like...everyone blinked simultaneously, wondering if they had heard him right.

I don't know actually. They were just in a clear container, so perhaps! He also passed around a cute little thing of hand sanitizer. Eating in a hospital cafeteria and all.

He has a plain gold ring on his left ring finger, so who knows? Clinicals really stress me out though, and it was so nice to not feel seconds away from a heart attack all day long. It's my maternity nursing clinical, and we're on the labor/delivery floor. He's an OB/GYN nurse and midwife. The situations I'll be in will most likely be very stressful, but at least I don't have one of the terrifying female instructors that work for my school. I can only handle so much intensity at 06:00 in the morning.

I had a high school biology teacher that was also that way. One time he told us he had a date that night with a girl he was interested in. We all had pretty much the same, bewildered blinking reaction.
