Default Quick! A once in a lifetime deal, or is it?

I found a PS3 on craigslist for $45. It gives three beeps and a red light.
    No controller
    80GB FAT
    +All chords
Missing one screw that holds the lid on.

My question: Should I buy this, Can I fix it, Is it worth it?

    Here: http://centralmich.craigslist.org/vgm/2159448854.html

Any and all opinions are acceptable since Inferno is offline.

No idea about the red light beep situation, but I would imagine everything else would be kind of a non issue since you can just buy another controller + missing screw. Although I'm not really knowledgeable with these sorts of things. But if you knew for a fact that you would be able to fix the red light issue, I would say yes since that's hella cheap.

My thoughts exactly, just wondering if the red light is fixable without many further purchases. I might even have my Girlfriend get it as an early birthday present for me.

A PS3 hovers around 200 on ebay. I would contact him and get the name and number for the mentioned place and tell them you have a broken PS3 with the symptoms this guy has and if they can fix it for 100 you might want to get it, but at that rate after buying a screw and controller you're hovering at 200+ (45 ps3 100 repair about 45 for a controller, screw $1.25? = roughly $191.25)

Long story short, on second thought you should prolly get a PS3 elsewhere or on eBay.

    Google much?

Searched "ps3 red light beeping" and found a whole list of unpleasantries that, having skimmed them briefly, sound like they might not be as easy to repair as you might hope.

I wasn't going to pay 100 for a fix, I would attempt the fix myself.

haha...ty. I did actually and just like the 360 probs, "heat gun this, heat gun that, flux here, flux there....." quite unpleasant indeed. It will be 30-40 bucks for a heat gun and flux for maybe 10. I was keeping my eye out for a tut w/o these.

    Tutorial:
Step 1) Buy a console that isn't broken.
    Step 2) Enjoy.

Step 3) Go hungry...not that it would be the first time I've put video games before necessities.

The bits aren't really necessary, just a screw that holds the top shell on. A shell that might even clip on as well. (im not sure though)
