Haven't heard of that brand before, but is there room in that for 5 hard drives? More bays both 3.5 and 5.25" respectively are usually found on full tower, because a smaller form factor case like a mid or mini-atx is prone to heat dissipation and airflow issues caused by putting more components in. With regards to wattage I wouldn't expect the hard drives to use that much, the gpu and cpu are the larger consumers. I think if you don't overclock or use anything too high end you might be ok.

Might save this week's wages until 2 weeks from now and get the case, new motherboard, new CPU and DDR3 RAM. I am staying with the 9800GT as I don't give a shit about PC gaming anyway. I'd just like to get more up to date. I also want to run my old computer into my LCD TV for emulators and whatnot.

Why so many drives? I'd just get one large external drive that you use to back up data, and one large internal drive that you use primarily. The chance of DOA's or drive failures rises with more of them, so why risk it?

I already have 400GB x2 and a 1TB in my current PC, as well as a 1TB external.

I don't want drives for "backing up data" I want the drives for storing console ISOs on.

I generally only store stuff until it's burned off onto good quality DVD+R, so I may or may not go stupid and get another 4 1TBs, I might just get another one. Or something. Anyway the extra space would be good, my current tower is cramped like crazy, and I don't have the false drive plates for it so I have a floppy drive and a DVD-RW drive in there that I don't have connected up.

3 TB hard drives are a bad idea. Slightly above 2 TB, motherboards start having issues with them.

Also, Hitachi is meh.

Oh well, I was planning on getting a WD 2tb- but that drive looks like the fastest 3tb internal at the moment. Can you buy that host bus adapter seperately to use with it? Or is it a proprietary part for WD?

I'm sure you could get something of the sort elsewhere, but the point is that using something over 2 TB is asking for trouble.

I was reading about it yesterday and from what I could gather, as long as you're using Windows 7 64BIT you won't have any problems with a 3TB drive.

It's just XP/32bit that it won't work with.

It would make sense, since you can't make use of over 4gb of ram with 32-bit operating systems, as far as I know. Not exactly a problem since I plan on using Windows 7 64-bit(haven't decided which edition though). Hitachi has this to say about the matter:

Well, there you go. Personally, if you're going to be burning all kinds of cash on this computer, I'd suggest getting an SSD for your OS and such anyways, then just use the big HDD for storage. It'll make a hugely noticeable difference in boot time, and you can install any games that are prone to lag on it for a noticeable improvement on them as well.

Yes, I too would get a 60-80GB SSD for OS/programs and a 1-1.5TB or two for storage.
