Speaking of PSG, I only watched about the first half of it. Does it get better or is it really just a big compilation of sex jokes? It's not terrible, but hardly a masterpiece.

No, you're more or less right. It's pretty much mindless stupid fun with a heavy smearing of trying to go as far as it can. They eventually start crossing a few lines, sometimes more than once.

Also, I'm not quite watching it alone, so that certainly improves things when I can hear and make comments about the latest weird event to occur in it.

I prescribe a steady diet of shoujo manga and peaceful piano music. Cute kitten photos optional, but recommended.

No obligation save for the fact that I already dropped a translation blog earlier this year and will hate myself so damn much if I drop another project by the wayside. Though admittedly I mostly gave up on my translation blog because I got lots of strangers commenting on my posts with random requests. It was flattering at first, but eventually it got sort of creepy. I don't know you. Why would I want to translate some Japanese song that I don't even like for you? Protip: if you ever learn Japanese, don't advertise that fact to the web, even if it's on a blog that you don't promote and figure no one reads. People will find it.

As long as you don't mind, I guess. And I'm translating game Japanese via a Dvorak keyboard layout. Call it even?

This idea is so cute that I don't quite know how to reply. As shy as I am, we'll definitely need to meet up if I ever end up working in the US!

Though I really think you wouldn't like me in real life. ;__; I don't really like me in real life. What few endearing traits I have don't tend to show up in actual conversation.

I'm not that interested in government work anyway. I want to try and get into something more creative. Translating novels, movies, videogames, manga... Anything like that. I'm not too fussed.

It's okay, I agree with him half of the time. The other half of the time I'm wishing I could move to the UK, because he's said something like, "If you do that where I grew up, you'd get slapped in the head."

I know you will, because you're lovely like that, but I don't want people to put up with me being dull and awkward on the outside because they know I'm mostly nice on the inside. I feel like it's what my university friends do, and it's totally unfair on you all. :'D People will get to know me so well via writing and we'll share all sorts of warm conversations, but as soon as we meet up I'll be cold and standoffish. I don't like it, but I don't really know what to do about it either. I guess I just need to learn to learn that if people spend time with me it's because they want to spend time with me. I'm so shy in real life that I feel like I'm being a nuisance just taking up other people's time. Like there's a thousand other more interesting people they could be spending the time with. And that anxiety just makes me more shy. :'D I'm getting better at telling myself that I'm worth the time my friends give me, but it's still hard. Online it's easier because I know that if I bore any of you you can just sign off. It's less easy to do that in a conversation or when you're out with someone. ^_~

I'd happily do the Asian tourists thing, to be honest. Though being a tour guide for a city I've just moved to might work out rather oddly. "So, on your right side you have...uh...a big building. And on your left side you have another big building. No questions, please."

Oh don't worry, there's plenty of stupidity here too. The stupid simply tend to have shorter lifespans due to the general intolerance of those wielding knives, switchblades and sharpened metal rulers. Okay, so it's not that bad. At least so long as you stay in the city center and the cushy suburbs.

The problem is obviously that you're much smarter than me, and that intelligence tends to breed cynicism. You're also a good deal more worldly than me, and are much more acquainted with disappointment and the crap that life throws at you. Most of my life experience in recent years has been gleaned from sugary sweet stories with cheery protagonists, friends every bit as soft-hearted as me, and teachers who have mothered me and thought of me as their dear little pet project. About the closest thing I've had to someone being unpleasant to me in the last seven years is my mum's drunken rants and random trolls here, neither of which I take especially seriously. It's not hard to be optimistic when you can barely remember what it feels like to get knocked down.

Unless other people learn Japanese, I'm also going to be roped into being a translator for all these projects. Not amused. Oh, and Ivolt's first project is totally going to be Ai Yori Aoshi. Which, by a strange translation quirk, ends up with its title changed from Bluer than Indigo to Purpler than Violet.

Flaky, inexperienced translators who say, "You go figure out the program and just give me a script"? Yeah, that sounds about right. And Dvorak was only sadistic for the first couple of days. And whenever I try to plug a USB keyboard into my PS3. Damn you Sony! It's a keyboard layout with all of...five users worldwide! Add it already!

We can get a serious LAN party on the go. Only to find that even when our computers are physically wired together, EP's online gaming curse still finds a way to get in the way.

Most translators are considerably flakier. Not that other people aren't equally prone to such things. Ivolt may vaguely recall that whole FSN fiasco several years back. Wasn't it just FUN how the guy who did nothing short of remove/insert scripts held the project hostage for almost a whole year because he felt like being an elitist prick? And I can think of about 4 more that are currently being held at gunpoint because editors/project leads just feel like being dicks.

Many fan translators aren't really fluent in Japanese, or aren't really fluent in English. Chen isn't really fluent in either. I'm sure this will end well.

Tempted to break my microphone right now so I won't be tempted to participate if and when that terrible day ever comes. Yes, I know it's built into my laptop. That's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

Wow, seriously? It's bad enough for a translator to develop a god complex after a couple of years of studying Japanese (have come across a few!), but a script insertor? Jeez... Feeling a little better about myself now. And you don't know how flaky I can be. Yet. Bring this conversation up in a couple of weeks and I'll probably go, "Oh yeah...that... But you know what I'm really into right now? New RPG XYZ."

Kidding. Well...not about being flaky as hell. But I will give this my all.
