My dad has severe heart issues and can literally drop dead any second. No, really. The phone could just randomly ring and I could be told he fell over dead. According to doctors, it's a miracle he's still alive. My grandfather on that side spent the last 15 years of his life bedridden and almost unable to move. He pretty much died when I was really young, he just hung around in a barely living state for quite some time afterward. The grandfather on my mother's side died in his early 50's as well. My mother isn't the oldest child, but she's the second oldest living person in her family. Because they drop like flies. I may be losing another family member in the not too distant future due to other medical reasons. My future is AWESOME.

Ouch, that really sucks. I can't imagine how it must feel for your Dad, knowing he could drop dead at any second. I think I'd pretty much be a useless wreck in that situation.

The bad part about my family history is that my Mom was adopted. So I have no way of knowing what runs on her side of the family, aside from the crippling arthritis she has. Kinda worrisome.
