I really hate summer, but it would really screw me up if I moved to a place when summer is happening when it's supposed to be cold and snowy.
How do they manage to market Christmas stuff in Australia? Surely images of snowy Christmas trees and such are kind of out of place if it's summer time? And you probably don't want to put snowflake lights on the front of your house.![]()
We aren't the only country in the world that doesn't have snow at christmas lol.
Christmas marketing is the same as everywhere else.......it's a european tradition, and this country was colonised by europeans.
Our trees don't have snow on them, but that doesn't stop marketing from having pictures of snowy christmas stuff.
Christmas tree lights are nearly as big here as in other western countries (I suspect).
People compete against each other in decorating and lighting up their houses....it results in massive electricity bills :/

Spoiler warning:
I know you're not, but since you're only living in one country at the moment, I thought I would ask specifically about that one.
I assumed it would be the same, but I just can't imagine wanting a bunch of wintery imagery around during the summer. Weird.
Whether or not my question ended up sounding stupid, it was just something I suddenly thought about, and was curious. I'll stay on my side of the Earth though, thanks.
The smaller, if it makes sense to put a video break there. I don't know what game you're playing, but generally cutting it into smaller parts will increase the chances that it's actually viewed. On the other hand, if the places of the video breaks don't make sense, people won't be able to pick them back up as easily if they don't watch them all in one sitting.
No, your question wasn't stupid![]()
Forgive me for laughing......it wasn't at you specifically.
It's just whenever I see questions along the lines of "what is it like there?" "is it really that different?" it inevitably conjures up ideas of people thinking we live on another planet or something![]()
It's just me laughing at how people may perceive this place, and it's generally inspired by what the mass media portrays (but this happens to many countries).
I've been asked some pretty strange stuff in my time......like if I have kangaroos in my backyard and use them as transport
It's not so bad down here, really.
I just hate summer.......it wouldn't matter where I was![]()

Note to self: 05:00 isn't really a good time to try out new eyeliner ideas. Especially when your eyes are feeling sleepy.
I wasn't offended or anything, but it's impossible to ask that sort of question without feeling a little stupid. And since my boyfriend is constantly ranting about Americans and how they're always asking him stupid things about England and such, I'm even a little more hesitant than I would usually be.![]()
However, it's become sort of an unintentional custom between Elin and I, whenever our paths cross, to share some sort of cultural quirk that the one or the other of us has never heard of. The resulting conversations are always fun, and so I decided to address my curiosity with a question, in this particular scenario.
I certainly don't think you live on a different planet, and I'm sure there are countless more similarities than differences, but you never know what cute little thing you might learn about some place else.
