I find it difficult to play more than one level of Thief 1 at a time. There's just something... still, stale about the game's atmosphere that can't keep me paying attention for long, especially compared to Thief 3.
I swore I'd play through and beat it before I went back and finished Thief 3 though, so I'm working on it. I'm on like level 5 or 6 or something now, I can't remember.
As I was walking down the stair,
