I believe that this could be compared with the point in the allegory that the man goes back to the cave. His attempts to explain what he learned to his old friends could be compared to Plato's views on what people proclaim education to be. If you try to throw somebody who is trapped in the darkness out into the light, they will just be blinded, and learn nothing. In order to be educated, the person must first walk into the light of their own free will. I saw this, above all else, to be the main idea.
