Force != velocity.
EDIT:
Specifically, an engine does not generate a speed in any sense of the word. It generates a motive force that propels the airplane forward at a given acceleration. A treadmill moving at a constant velocity simply means that the initial velocity of the airplane in question is negative - this must be overcome before the plane can ascend, but given sufficient length, acceleration, or a low enough treadmill speed, it is perfectly possible or plausible. I am assuming, of course, that it is moving against the treadmill rather than with it, since I don't exactly have a television to tune in to watch Mythbusters or wherever.
EDIT 2: I also assumed the treadmill is moving with constant speed rather than constantly accelerating speed.![]()

Oh right, I never tagged these. >__<
All this talk about force, thrust, lift, acceleration, and velocity is getting me hot.
Continue.
