    No, it wasn't a jet.

    Force != velocity.

    EDIT:
    Specifically, an engine does not generate a speed in any sense of the word. It generates a motive force that propels the airplane forward at a given acceleration. A treadmill moving at a constant velocity simply means that the initial velocity of the airplane in question is negative - this must be overcome before the plane can ascend, but given sufficient length, acceleration, or a low enough treadmill speed, it is perfectly possible or plausible. I am assuming, of course, that it is moving against the treadmill rather than with it, since I don't exactly have a television to tune in to watch Mythbusters or wherever.

    EDIT 2: I also assumed the treadmill is moving with constant speed rather than constantly accelerating speed.

    All this talk about force, thrust, lift, acceleration, and velocity is getting me hot.

    Continue.

    Angular acceleration of rigid bodies as the cross product of the angular velocity of the local axis system with respect to an inertial frame of reference with that of the body with respect to said local axis system?

    It took me a while to decipher that, and I studied physics. My God.

    Not that I didn't get the innuendo at first, don't get me wrong.
