Ok so for no reason whatsoever I clicked on this video link. It is supposedly evidence of something. Just listen to the audio.

It just had sex, sex, and more sex, and one of them was doing it to spread an evil virus to kill the people on board simply because he's a Christian fundamentalist and, you know, pre-marital sex is bad and space colonization and scientific progress are all bad so we have to genetically engineer a disease that will kill those people. I can't believe I even remember that much. That book went back in the pile right quick. If I wanted soft-core lit, I'd pick up a Harlequin novel.
    Name of the book plz.

I think it was Alpha Centauri or something like that. It's been almost a decade, and I'm a bit fuzzy on the details.

Geh, I see, that sort of Japanophile. He even has a video that's just a moment of silence to honour the people at Yasukuni.
    ...
That's just...no, best not to comment. I mean, why rip into him here when he isn't here? Besides, maybe I'm just misinterpreting.

Mind you, the world he creates is quite rich and interesting, and he is the forerunner for almost all modern high fantasy, but I will admit that I only ever read the famous trilogy that really made him big.
Dry would be the word. I mean, I fucking love it so far.

Also, I couldn't even get through LotR. I got about halfway through Two Towers before I quit. I read through The Hobbit, though.

I plan on reading The Silmarillion, maybe even a few times, then The Hobbit, then LotR.

No need to bother with LotR. If you've read The Hobbit, you've already read the best work he ever did. Unless you're planning on being a fantasy writer or reviewer, LotR isn't really worth reading for the story.

It's not really the story of LotR I want to read it for, it's the story of Middle Earth.
