"through" was a bad choice of words. The 5.56 rarely overpenetrates humans and it does tend to yaw on impact because of the bullet design. It's also known to fragment on impact when the velocity is over 2700. Certain variants apparently fragment at a lower velocity, but they aren't the norm.
Scaling up isn't the answer unless you're planning on the use of HP rounds (which is against the Hague convention, not any of the Geneva conventions) because overpenetration is just wasted energy.

I get the impression you'd need ah...'specialised' Japanese knowledge, anyway. ^_~
My older brother tried to give me an intensive seminar on dirty Japanese words when I was staying with him. I think I forgot most of them, though. He picks them all up from his students. It's pretty much the only Japanese he knows.

I'm decided. I'm "acquiring" Rosetta Stone, and learning Russian.
6.8 is a ballistic dead end.
and theres a loophole in the geneva conventions about that.
and as for impact fragmentation, thats because of the tungsten/steel penetrator. that bullet has 3 different metals in it, hit something hard enough, and they separate.
AFAIK, the boat tail was supposed to maintain stable trajectory and prevent that yaw problem.
There isn't an acronym to describe how badly I want you to not be here.Originally Posted by Chibi-Suke
