In my case, I feel guilty for not playing them in Japanese, since I have learned, and continue to learn, a surprising amount from playing RPGs. It's actually pretty beneficial. The trouble being that it's infinitely more comfortable playing a game in a language you're actually fluent in. I get tired after about an hour or two of reading Japanese. I should just play more games in English, but when I think of all the 30+ hour games I've finished in English, and think how much more I'd have learned had I trudged through them in Japanese, I just feel obliged not to.

In fairness, I did make a concession to myself with Xenosaga. There was just no way I was going to try and take on all that psycho-babble in any language other than English. ;

Sometimes I think you hold yourself to some pretty unreasonable standards. I say unreasonable, but they do make sense even still.

I wish I knew a bit of Japanese. I too would like to try some of the games I've missed out on over the years because I don't speak the language.
