Why's that?

Mine is a 70010, when I was looking for info about the models, apparently that model does not have a fix that prevents the laser from burning out quickly. My friend's PS2 is a 75001 and he has it chipped since almost two years ago and it still works like new.

The game won't make you go to Tatarus ever after the first time. You should go as all the boss fights (at least at the beginning) are on certain days, but if you go to Tatarus on the night before a full moon, your condition doesn't go down.
Personally, I'd go to Tartarus more so I can get the requests from Elizabeth done, but you don't have to.
