I use silver XP. It's a huge step up from blue, or green.
I also put the task bar on the right side of the screen, so my applications are read up to down instead of left to right. All you can see is the icon of the application, which is plenty for me.

I love Vista. I'm even getting used to the UAC. I don't see it that much now that my computer is all set up and I'm not installing drivers and such, and it's not that big of a hassle when it does come up. Better to have that layer of protection, anyway.
