Anyways, knoppix to the rescue!

This is a concrete companies PC I'm working on. Incredibly dirty as you can imagine, cleaning it is worth $400 alone . It quit booting (posting fine, windows error). At first chkdsk was having read errors so I was expecting impending disk failure. But after disabling reboot after restart, the error message told me exactly what was wrong - Windows logon service unavailable, system shut down.

Booted up ERD COMM to inspect C:\windows, and as a I suspected, winlogon.exe was corrupt (1KB file). Unfortunately ERD couldn't replace it, even though it can delete it and replace anything else, including passwords So hopefully knoppix can do it. If not..... :\ Also got alot of disk errors in the error log, so I'm not ruling out disk failure.

Oh, and the lady thought it was the monitor that was trying to shutdown the computer. I have no idea why
