Paladin hammer's comments on the video are priceless, however.
As I was walking down the stair,
    I met a man who wasn't there.
    He wasn't there again today.
    I wish, I wish he'd go away.

The point of war is to fulfill the political or sociological goals you started the war for. "Winning at any cost" can be very counterproductive if your goals do not match this.

Wars haven't been started for legitimate goals since WW2.

Korean War and Persian Gulf War. Indonesian, First Indochinese, Algerian, Eritrean, Angolan, Guinean, Mozambican, Second Chimurenga, Bangladesh Liberation...and I've only hit the early 1960's. To a degree Namibian Independence and South African Border War can be justifiable as well.

You can tell that I respect self-determination quite a bit.

I disagree, Korea and Vietnam seemed legit. But Vietnam didn't turn out quite as successful as Korea. I mean without intervention in Korea, it's apparent that (Communist Russian backed) China would've been pervasive, if not total conquerors, in the East. Who knows where they would've jumped to after defeating South Korea? Vietnam, statistically we kicked ass, but in our political conflict against communism, I'm sorry boys and girls but we failed.

I really doubt, though, that China would have done much of anything that they didn't already do, considering that not only did they not do anything about Korea until the UN reached the Yalu River, and that they view the Korean war as the successful defense of the DPRK against UN aggression and the first victory scored against a Western army since the Opium War, but they also successfuly invaded India and "sort-of-successfully" invaded Vietnam anyways.

Heh, I don't know. I'm pretty sure Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Algeria, Eritrea, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Bangladesh all regard those as pretty significant. America's got a bit of a grudge over First Indochina, too, since it led them right into Second Indochina, or the Vietnam War.

Rest assured, no amount of hangout posting can ever dumb anyone down to your level.

I don't know, I'm pretty close to the level of quite a few people here, though most are rather quiet on the sort of topics I post in, and I've been in the Hangout before. Interesting, but hardly mind-numbing.
