Really though, working, knowing that at the end of the week I'll have X amount of dollars, and that the only thing keeping me from making the same amount from week to week is me simply not going in, is a whole lot more comforting a prospect than trying to make my livelihood from something that's about as sure a thing as getting struck by lightning.
The bottom line is: he's comfortable leeching off his mom for room and board.

I have absolutely no drive to sit on my ass and hope that things will come together, especially for such a low-yield deal as the one you're tied up in. Good luck with all of that though.
You miss the most important point of all.

His mom pays the bills, not him. He doesn't have to make money to not end up on the curb.

He should increase his chances by using his winning to buy lottery tickets.

You people seem to fail to realize that poker isn't about luck. You can win a poker hand without even looking at the cards if you're good enough.

Go rent (or pirate) the movie Rounders.

As tough as it can be to manage bills sometime, I'd never trade the sense of accomplishment I get knowing that I've worked hard for what I own. There's nothing quite like it.

    It's just, like, 1200 miles. I wouldn't take this lightly. :/
