Hey guys, I have a total n00b problem here. I have but one DLS modem, and my brother's wife wants to get her computer hooked up to the net too. What do I need to make this work, and what can I expect to pay for it?

    DSL*

I have zero experience with DSL, but I would assume a standard router would do the job.

It has, thus far, done jack shit. See, the problem is that the router only supports one ethernet connection. I'm sure how the hell to get the second computer online, which makes your answer, while well meaning, pretty-much worthless.

I truly wish that I was not a n00b when it comes to these things.

So plug the ethernet from the modem to the router's "input", then plug ethernet from an "output" to your computer, and another from another "output" to the other computer.

Unless you're using two modems, which I don't understand.

I'm guessing some sort of ethernet splitter?
(only supports ONE? That's.... highly unusual)

Wait, there's only one OUT on the router?

Get a better router, is my advice.

Yeah, there's only one. It's not my router though, so eh, I'll let them by a new one.

polo says: a standard home router will do the job. Expect to pay 40 ish dollars for a decent one from D-Link or Linksys which should do the job.
Be sure it has 1 WAN port (internet goes in that) and 4 LAN ports (computers connect there). Most home routers should have that above.

I am thinking Unreal Tournament might do the job for me. Who knows though.
