Hey guys, I have a total n00b problem here. I have but one DLS modem, and my brother's wife wants to get her computer hooked up to the net too. What do I need to make this work, and what can I expect to pay for it?

It has, thus far, done jack shit. See, the problem is that the router only supports one ethernet connection. I'm sure how the hell to get the second computer online, which makes your answer, while well meaning, pretty-much worthless.
I truly wish that I was not a n00b when it comes to these things.
Also: Bottom of the 8th, Sox are up 9-5 in Colorado.
Wait, there's only one OUT on the router?
Get a better router, is my advice.

polo says: a standard home router will do the job. Expect to pay 40 ish dollars for a decent one from D-Link or Linksys which should do the job.
Be sure it has 1 WAN port (internet goes in that) and 4 LAN ports (computers connect there). Most home routers should have that above.
