You can usually have one copy of something you already own. That is, IF you live in the silly US. So, whether or not you own the system means nothing.

I usually download games that are old. I justify rom/iso downloading like this:

    1. The games aren't in stores anymore, so the game company wouldn't gain or lose money even if I bought the game.

    2. Because the games are no longer in stores, the company does not give access to them anymore. Thus, one of the few ways you could play the game would be to download it.

    3. Some games are just too great to be left behind, and they should be played regardless.

Yea I have my own excuses for downloading, so like someone said in the earlier post....just keep downloading until the feds come a-knockin.

And if/when they do, I better be able to count on this forum not spilling out all my info

And I'm kinda glad I have Verizon as my ISP because they REFUSED to give the government any sort of personal customer data...they'd tell them the IP of the computer but absolutely refused to give out the customer's name or information.....I read about it in an article somewhere but cant remember the name of the article.

    Keep downloadin, and keep rockin!

I don't really think their clout extends beyond American borders to such a degree, though. Money may be money, but it's interesting that the EU did a similar copyright term extension as the Mickey Mouse Protection Act five years before America did, and before that, America didn't accept the Berne Convention's 50-year minimum for almost a century after Europe did. America didn't reactivate expired copyrights, either. Naturally, it doesn't make the 70 years post mortem or 120 post publication any better, but...that "partially" is a bit less than you seem to think.

But those were sellers, not buyers. I think.
