Get your XP cd, pop it in, go to recovery console, fixboot. Then repair the vista bootloader.

If that doesn't work make an ms-dos startup floppy from another pc or transfer the damaged hard drive to a second pc and place NTLDR manually.

I just popped in the XP disc while booted into vista, and manually copied those files into my XP root dir. will that do?
