There should have been a book that came with the router, it's a good idea to take a quick glimpse through and see what it says

Do you need a password or other information to log in to your internet connection?
Many DSL connections require information like global IP address, subnet mask, default
gateway address, DNS server address, or PPPoE parameters in order to connect. Cable
modems usually don’t require extra information. If
you have a DSL internet connection, make sure
that you have any necessary information
handy before you continue. Your Internet
Service Provider can give you this
information if you don’t know it.

well if you have DSL, you should already know ur password... most ISP's make you set it up when you first setup ur dsl modem....

but if you already have the modem setup, then you shouldnt need that info, just plug the router in and it should do its stuff....

we really need to know what kind of internet you have (assuming DSL)

and also what kind of equipment you already have..

i.e. dsl modem... dsl modem/router combo... etc.

that would depend entirely on whatever equipment you have now

EDIT: if for example you were to do a setup like this

    -------dsl line------[dsl modem]--------[buffalo router]-(-(-(-(-wireless signal-(-(-(-(

then i cant imagine that you would need to know the password as the modem already supplies that....

now if you were to do a:

    -------dsl line------[Buffalo Router]-(-(-(-(

then yea you would need to know it

well ur username is usually the same as the email address ur ISP provides you with............ as for the password you should be able to recover it online?

worst case scenario, just call ur ISP and have a bill ready.
