Why? There's nothing that sounds interesting about it in that excerpt.
Not in that one. I posted that because I didn't know the proper order for the first series of .hack before the GU series. Fer mentioned it too, so I thought he might be interested to know.

Oh. For some reason, the games never screamed "buy me" when I looked at them. I'll youtube for them. Maybe they're not that bad.
Not good.
Personally, I'd say they look like generic RPGs. Never read anything about the story, though. Doesn't mean you shouldn't try it for yourself. You might actually end up liking it.

I hope so...it's an entire genre that is completely lost on me.

That's bad, really. Mind you, I'm not into FPS games, but it's not like it's a loss to me. I just don't enjoy those games. I guess the same applies to you.
Still, it's bad.
As I recall, it's the whole "oh noes 100th randoom battle" part that you dislike, right?

Yeah. Grandia II is the one that comes to mind. I dispise walking through some wooded area and every 2 steps you are attacked by a group of 4 demon wolves or something.
Skies of Arcadia is the only RPG I have ever been able to tolerate. In small doses.
