Liers in Wait released a damn solid EP back in 92, worth checking out as one of the few technical melodeath bands. Unanimated did some good stuff as well. Not much else comes to mind apart from the big names though. At least back then melodeath didn't mean metalcore with borrowed Slaughter of the Soul harmonies.Originally Posted by Megalith
I'm not really fond of melodeath either, since the genre is marred by loads of shit and it's only the early stuff that's worthwhile (early In Flames and Dark Tranquility.) There's Dissection, Arsis and Amon Amarth as well but besides those, the music bores me to tears.
It's still all trumped by the Sunshine Studios sound.
