Need help with GBA emulators

I am currently trying to play some of my gba roms with rascalboy advance and no$gba the games run for the most part but saving is a problem games that can save like golden sun or final fantasy tactics advance fail to save on either emulator the save state feature works but I don't want to have to use that. Also i tried changing the extension on my vba save states and but it didnt work does anyone know of a way to assist me in this problem?
