caught part of one yesterday afternoon. I don't deny the existence but the stories are far to elaborate to be believable but then again it's tv so entertainment comes before real facts and logic.

You can throw reality out the window in an encounter with real aliens advanced enough to visit Earth, they correspond to a Kardashev scale Type III and have the supertechnology to alter reality and your senses to be whatever ants and humans belonging to a Type Zero are perceiving it to be.

i.e. consider what human illusionists can do and what alien illusionists advanced enough to visit Earth can do by extrapolation.
