Jet Grind Radio won't run on my DC

Hello lovely people! I am here again to bother you with questions that have likely simple answers.

I've been burning images of JGR that I've downloaded off places (EP included) and none of them DC recognizes as a game disc.

Burning had no problems - used IMGBurn with the pftoc files and burnt it fine.

I burnt Ikaruga, Cannon Spike and Sonic Adventure the same way, and all work well.

Ah, just realized, is there any way to tell whether a game is self booting or not?

EDIT: The rip, I believe, is Echelon's (as the cdi is marked "ECH-JGR"). If it's not self bootable, would someone be kind enough to point me to (or share) a self booting one?

My DC has a (1) on the underside, is not chipped, region US.
