The initial "attempt" that I heard about, back in '03, fell through. Quickly, I think.
I haven't heard that the latest one has been canceled yet, but I haven't heard anything else beyond -- what I hope -- are some serious jokes about who is playing Spike. Because if they aren't, then I'm going to kill myself.
