Piracy is irrelevant in this case. I'm talking about legal acquisition of games right now. Saying that digital distribution is stupid because hurr durr you can just pirate it anyway is silly. And yeah, it's direct, via Steam's interface. You can download your game as many times as you want after buying it, though, so it's never lost.
