Default My new majestic Saitek P880 GamePad

    Man, I love this gamepad...

IMHO, the best possible solution for any emu. Genesis-like buttons for the pressing-buttons (hmm.. that was horribly worded), two triggers, 8-way d-pad, two analog sticks (that also work as a button like in modern game systems) and a "Digital" button that switches the left stick and the d-pad. Nice, eh? Not to mention it comes with software to program what it does (haven't looked at that yet... but its probably gonna be REALLY awexome)

    20 bucks? Pretty nice!

I was thinking a while about asking for a good PC game pad... Something useful for all-around emulation (SNES, genesis, PSX, N64)... This seems pretty good!

Do you guys have any other suggestions...? Something with 8 buttons and a quality analog stick would do...

the only other controller I have is a MS SideWinder. 4-Buttons, 2-Triggers, 8-way d-pad, and plug & play. Thats it. Wonderful. Just great. Six buttons. Useful as hell. Greatest thing to buy me for Christmas about a year back. Lemme tell ya. Juust lovely.

Okay, thats compared to things like the P880. But I've used my SideWinder a LOT in the past year.

I'll stick to my custom PSX port that supports Analog, Dual Shock and MultiTap , I knew I would find a use for my old dead Gray PSX.

Ru if you have an old gray PSX that has died why not make your own port for you PC then it will will support some very good PSX Pads. (The PSX pads are made rather well and they last)

oh, abso-posi-you better believe it. Heck, even the little blue Saitek thing on the top-middle lights up when the controller is in ur USB port.. and the Shift key lights up when its activated.. and theres a light on the digital button for when its active. The colors... agyaagnaa!

The simple things are always the best. And I see that you're easily amused. I'm the same with my Dell computer.

Hmm kinda hard to explain but I'll give it a shot

    Need List

    1. a PSX with working power any model even PSone (Mine was a Gray PSX with a broken Lazer unit)
    2. A Printer Cable or Scanner (the 25 pin type)
    3. a spare printer port (Most of us have one spare as now everything is USB)
    4. a soldering iron

Note. the Printer/Scanner leads are numbered on the pins and that is what is referenced in the attachment, that is a very basic notes I used while making it

Note2. The working power is for dual shock and because the power is running through the PSX, the power is correct so you will not need to mess on with resistors or any silly things like that.

*** EDIT I'll find some better info for this

Yes the PS2 would work but be warned the PS2 connections are alot more likley to get damaged than the PSX or PSone would so I would not recomend taking apart your PS2 just to make PS2 port for the PC.

I have lost my 2nd port and Dual Shock through my PS2 being taken apart.

Oh yeah I forgot to post what drivers to use aswell you can find em here

I can't find any diagrams that are easier to use yet, but I'm still looking

yeah it will just unhook it from your PC first just to make sure there are no conflicts between the two machines

Funny thing is my PSX still brings up the bios screen and the pad effects both the PSX and my PC at the same time

oh yeah you don't need the power on all the time either only when you are actully using Dual Shock otherwise with no power you can still use all your buttons and Analog fine, just no Dual Shock

I have a question about the .txt file you gave me. on the printer cable section, it says that pin 01 is used but then on the psx section of it, it has no wires going to that pin... typo?

    Year it is sorry

I'm working on PSX mem card support for backing up onto my PC but I havn't tested it and I missed editing wire 01 out of the txt file.

This is my original txt file, but it has wire colours noted in it but it will be different anyway as the 25 pin wires are not all coloured the same way
