Default Legend of Mana Sound File Issue

It may be my own fault but for some reason I have finished downlading your Legend of Mana ISO file for PS1 and as the character in the game walks around it makes high pitched pecking sounds. This is not part of the natural game, considering I own the game. Could I fix this by running the game via CDROM using the actual game? Is my emulator im using doing this?? Any help would be great!! Thanks!

would help if we knew what emulator you are using, it is possible that your settings are a little off causing sound issues

p.s. it is better to run from a disc image for smoother/faster data reading and rules out any disc faults or drive faults

It sounds like you are using an emulator, but which one?

If you're using ePSXe it's probably related to your sound plugin. If you're using a plugin that has settings for buffer, try changing that and see if it helps. I'm guessing here since you didn't provide much info.

As for running a game from a physical disk, your computer CD or DVD drive doesn't work like the PS did. They change speeds differently and the PS was optimized to PS games, so it doesn't emulate well. In Final Fantasy Tactics on an emulator I had about 1.5-2 second load times every attack, depending on if they say the name of the power or longer quote. And it is still being processed by plugins rather than a real PS so I doubt that would fix your sound issue. It's worth a shot if nothing else. It's always best to solve these things yourself.

I am currently using ePSXe 1.90. Im sorry for the lack of info. I literally picked up this stuff yeasterday and im trying to learn how to do it right still. The files i used to suppliment the emulator with the rest of the things it needed to run I got a from a batch file that i scanned for viruses after watching 5 or 6 youtube videos on how to set it all up. Should I just tear it all down and hunt through the system found here and start over?

Also I actually dont know how to obtain a "disc image" to run the game from. I have a hard copy of the game and it seems i can run the game in my cdrom via the emulator and my copy works fine. Should i still try to hunt down this "disk image?

http://psxdatacenter.com/ is a good place to pick up on settings on each game

For Legend of Manor (U) (The USA version of the game they recommend using)

    Emulator ePSXe v.1.7.0
Video Plugin Pete's OpenGL Driver v2.9 ( internal X & Internal Y= Very High, Stretching mode: Stretch to full window size, render Mode: 2 (Use framebuffer object) text filt = 2 FPS limit= 63, Compatibility=2,3,2; Shader effects= 1 (Fullscreen smoothin))
Audio Plugin ePSXe SPU Core v.1.7.0
    CD-ROM Plugin ePSXe Cdrom plugin
    Game Pad Plugin N / A
    Vibration Compatible Yes.
    Console Bios Used SCPH7502

The same should apply to ePSXe 1.9.0 though you can try 1.7.0 a swell anyway just rename the main ePSXe.exe to ePSXe170.exe and drop it in the same folder as ePSXe and it will share all the settings that 1.9.0 uses it is only 1.6.0 and older that will not as it uses a different core and stores the settings differently

P.S. if you can not use that version of OpenGL you can just use the normal OpenGL as the above that is OpenGL2 uses advanced features that not all graphics chip sets can use but the original OpenGL can use the same settings

Also a great site to find disc images for any game.
