Street Fighter II problem

HI
i am a newb
i use mame 153 on win 7 32bit
when i run street fighter 2 i get red screen that say that the game lack of sound and artwork fills and that the emulation for this game is not complete
and when type ok i am getting 'no screen attached to the system'

ant idea whats wrong?

Street Fighter II game is a pinball game not an arcade game the only thing that, that is trying to emulate is the digital display unit of the Pinball machine

Try Street Fighter II The World Warrior instead that is the original Street Fighter 2 arcade game from 1991 and is very much emulated with MAME, Street Fighter II the pinball game came a couple of years later in 1993 after most the alt versions of Street Fighter 2 arcade games except for the Super Street Fighter 2 games that came about the same time in 1993 & later in 1994

If you look at the image the black space that is between speaker is the digital display unit that MAME was failing to emulate

i have download Street Fighter II The World Warrior (WORLD 910522) but i get 'The selected game is missing one or more of the required ROM or CHD Images. Please select a different game'
this is what i get for most of my games
what should i do now?

It usually tells you what is missing in a popup box and also has folders listed those are not realy folders but are the zip files it looks for the roms in

I would also use MAMEUI, but if you altready are just use the gui right click the game you want to play and hit audit that will also tell you what is missing, that game does not use CHD's though

Not sure if it will play the exact version of Street Fighter that you want, but try GGPO. It is a MAME front-end combined with online matchmaking.

There is also an off-line .exe (ggpofba.exe) in the ggpo folder that has list of games, with a red circle near any you don't have. By searching with the names and numbers given on that list you should be able to very easily find good, usable ROMs. Very important to GGPO since it relies on everybody having the same software for online play. Give it a shot. If nothing else it will help you find good ROM images.

GGPO is not based on MAME but based on other arcade emulators that use different rom sets

Capcom system games in mame require the Qsound rom though

Also went to check the official GGPO site and it was reported to contain URL:Mal.

Good info.
I can't say I've ever had a problem with it or virus alerts because of it. Also didn't know it was non-MAME. The ROMs were always easy to find and worked great in GGPO so I never tried playing them in other emulators, and have preferred GGPO because of this Ease-of-use. I also tend to use the off-line .exe most of the time since I mainly use it for Dungeons & Dragons.

The site has possibly been hacked that's all I'm not willing to disable my antivirus software to find out though

Your not the only one to find MAME difficult to find the roms for but asides from that it's not hard at all to use especially if you use a GUI version like MameUI or one of the many online gaming versions, just about any version that is not the officially distributed version, that are all built on the same source files anyway.

I have full 0.152 set for MAME

Some games do run better in other emulators though due to hacks and various other tricks to get full speed but MAME is more for accuracy so does not use the same tricks, most other arcade emulators still use MAME source as a basis but they alter/add to the code to improve performance but the accuracy is lost through this, from gamers point of view that should not matter so much though

Sites like http://nonmame.retrogames.com/ list alt emulators that can be used that will play some of the games better or emulate games that are not emulated with MAME

Emulators such as FBA and plenty of others tend to be limited to certain games but MAME on the other hand covers alot more systems in general though some are yet to be fully emulated or may be slow but even if you just count what is fully emulated with MAME that is still more than double what any other emulators can play
