Default winx68k high speed? (ver. 0.95)

new forum member & im a little confused about this here emulator. (WinX68k high speed)

do you actually physically need a 5" floppy drive on your pc to run roms within winx68k HS, or can you burn an image file to a CD & boot it up from there? exactly how would I go about doing this?

there is no "open rom" or "load rom" within winx68k HS. I noticed there's basically 2 options: FDD0 & FDD1. (floppy disc drive 0 & floppy disc drive 1 - respectively?)

if CD is possible, im assuming any potential zipped roms (say in .hdf format, for example) need to somehow be converted OR burned to a cd as an image file (with an extension winx68k HS will recognize, within the drop down menu in windows) before one can actually run a rom, originally designed for the x68000 system?

not really finding a help file or tutorials for this thing either, which isn't helping. not even on youtube, in English anyway. (I realize the emulator was a jap. design, which was then converted to english)

    all I could find were these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCeGkG2-mjs & http://emunavi.com/e/menu/howto/win68khs/win68k.htm

anyone with some experience with this emulator help me out? are there other emulators i could try? thanks in advance.

edit = im using windows 7. no idea if compatibility issues come into play in this instance or not, although it wouldn't shock me.

hdf = a Hard Disc Drive dumped image Win64k should have options for those

It does not have Rom loading because the comp never had cart games that get the rom chip dumped, hence those are called roms

Look at all the options along the top of the emu.

I made this self boot when I played this many moons ago, but you will most like need to change directory with CD command a space then the name of the folder

use the DIR command to get a list of files

use the DIR command for each folder and main directory you look in

you are look for a batch file aka *.bat

once you find what you need to run just type the name of the bat file and hit enter

    EDIT

    Option>Internal Device>SASI

    Option>Config>Miscellaneous (Tab)>Open>

    Then reset from System>Reset>

Then use the command prompt to load the game if the HDD image does not have an autoboot option

If it's the usual copy with no auto boot

TYPE (hit enter after each line)

    cd drac
    adra

    the game should then start

edit = thanks to you, I got it to work. wow. I appreciate all that effort.

^ very useful post !! worthy of a sticky if you ask me. (although idk if there's a large demand for x68k emu) im thankful anyway.

I can already notice subtle changes from the PSX version, like how simon's a little slower in climbing stairs, the improvement in graphics, (55fps) & certainly a better aspect ratio; compared to that of my cathode ray tube tv, in which its "crooked" on the screen, & I cant quite see the outer edges of the gameplay screen.

    very cool.

it was me basically trying to use the FDD1 & FDD0 to open the rom, when I really needed to do it from options > config > miscellaneous > open menu. (the autoexec was huge too, I have a hard enough time mounting command lines within dosbox for petes sakes.)

thanks again zorlon. i'll have to add you on xbl.
