    Default Black screen using Epsxe

Hi everyone. I'm trying to play FFVIII and when I load the .CUE file all I get is a black screen, I've let it sit for a few minutes and nothing. I've looked around for fixes but absolutely nothing has worked. I have an Intel graphics chipset and I've tried every single video plugin that I can find and have fiddled with the settings of each one to no avail. I recently just bought a new Gateway laptop and tried using 1.7 AND 1.8. Neither worked. This is quite frustrating because 1.7 ran just fine out of the box on my old Acer Aspire.

I just beat the game myself using 1.7 and then 1.8 when it came out with no issues (I also have an intel gpu) I used the NTSC-U version right here from EP. Have you tried loading the .bin/.img instead of the cue?

FFVIII tagged [PAL] [E] or (E) are English and copy protected
FFVIII tagged [NTSC] [U] or (U) are English and not copy protected

You have 3 options to chose from

1 grab the NTSC version from here Slowest way but these work out the box

2 grab the sbi files from here Kinda complicated, config you CD plugin to use Pete's CD plugin hit configure and look near the bottom for sub channel reading, set it to use subchannel SBI/M3S then the box under that select the sbi needed

3 grab the patches from here Quickest way and easyest just extract what you want to the patches folder then enable auto ppf and run the game as normal (more direct instructions at link)

sbi is the fastest and easiest one in v.1.8.0 since the emulator only needs the sbi file to be placed in the patches folder with the name of the game serial, for example for cd1 of FFVIII PAL english the sbi will have to be SLES_020.80.sbi and it will work fine.

How is this "any" easier than Zorlons explanation? I'm genuinely curious.

"I think that the problem with this video is it is highly derivative of many popular bands within the genre. Although when viewed on its own merits, it does have a deeper groove. However what it has in groove, it lacks in originality. One can't help but be reminded of such bands as Pearl Jam, White Zombie, Suicidal Tendencies and other bands that bear the mantle of so called "Alternative Rock". One is even reminded of Lorie Anderson when she wore curlers. Hehehmhm! This video speaks less to the heart and more to the sphincter. In closing, I think Korn would do well to learn more from -"
