The legend of Zelda, can't bring up save menu

In short i'm using Jnes version 1.1 and 2 controlllers. One is a wired 360 controller, the other is a wired PS4 controller. For the PS4 controller i use a program called scp server, which in short makes windows think it is another 360 controller(used both controllers like this on other emulators with 0 problems). While i can configure things just fine, the issue is that I can't seem to get the save screen to come up in the game. As I understand it you're supposed to hit start on controller 1, then hold up and press A on controller 2, but when I try this nothing happens. Any thoughts?

Nevermind it seems to be a problem with Jnes, using Nestopia I can get to the save menu just fine, so I guess i'll be playing through the game on Nestopia then. I'm going to leave this topic here in case anyone else runs into similar problems emulating the game, but mods can close the topic if they like.

P.S. the game was remade with a very very slight different map for the SNES using the BS system originally 4 parts and jap only, using SNES Zelda graphics but was hacked to remove the BS timer and linked all 4 parts into one game to make it complete
