    Default MAME help starting

    Hello,

I am looking for the version of mame that works. I am also looking for help on what I need to get started as far as bios or roms or what not. I have not played with this since MAME32.
Can anyone direct me as to what is what these days and what I need to get rolling. I am only interested in arcade style.

    Thank you kindly.

The place I sent you I recommend getting the T7z one not the Tz one,

You see the MAME sets right?

    MAME 0.157 ROMs (T7Z-Merged)

is what you want, much smaller , the other one wastes tons of space.

MAME32 still exists it was renamed to MAMEUI split into two forms a 32bit version and a 64bit version, officially they only do a 64 bit version now but the link I have provided has both 32 and 64 bit versions of the latest stable builds as well as all the old builds

    http://www.progettosnaps.net/mameui/

Bios images if you are getting a full set that will include any bios images but it will not include chd images typically

MAME is great but as above there are other Arcade emulators that can run a lot of games better than MAME does or easier

The best place to look for alt emulators for certain games that are known to be better in other emulators is http://nonmame.retrogames.com/, it's not just newer system games either there are a bunch of older Arcade system games that are either not supported by MAME or just have slower engines in MAME and even just have very very basic drivers in MAME at it's current state.

Please also note that as with every other version of MAME it does use drivers that are still WIP and a lot of games either do not run at all or run but with issues, also some will run very slow no matter what your system specs are
